Design Lead – Data Center Build

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented leader with expertise in Data Center facilities design, adept at overseeing the development and implementation of innovative solutions to optimize operational efficiency and reliability. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities, business acumen, and a proven track record of success in the Data Center construction industry.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

STRATEGIC

 

  • Play a key role in the design and implementation of data center infrastructure projects, including electrical systems, HVAC systems, and fire suppression systems, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.

  • Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to assess the technical and operational requirements for new data center projects, collaborating with clients to develop customized solutions tailored to their specific needs.

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for data center construction and renovation projects, adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful execution of data center projects, managing project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet client expectations.

  • Direct a team of engineers and designers in the planning, design, and construction of data center facilities, ensuring compliance with Tier / TIA standards and client requirements.

  • Develop comprehensive design strategies to enhance energy efficiency, scalability, and resilience of data center infrastructure, resulting in significant cost savings and improved performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies and best practices into facility designs, including modular architectures, cooling systems, and power distribution solutions.

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of equipment vendors and contractors, negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships to ensure timely project delivery and adherence to quality standards.

  • Conduct performance testing and commissioning activities to verify the functionality and reliability of data center systems, identifying and resolving any issues to ensure seamless operations.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and performance audits to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement corrective actions as needed.

 

SKILLS

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / MBA

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.

  • Excellent presentation skills, problem solving and vendor management skills.

  • Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • CDCP / CDCS / ATD preferred
